This summer I have been working for a video blogging website named Rocketboom. Along with the online show is a store where people can purchase fan based merchandise such as t-shirts and key chains. My job with them is to simply pack and ship orders made by our website's fans. Unfortunately the money I make with them isn't enough to satisfy all the expenses that come with college. During the school year I hope to work to earn a little more money for travel, books and supplies, as well as the tuition and room & board expenses.

  I only have two main goals in my life: to be successful, and to be happy. "If you believe it then u can achieve it" was something that I always heard as a child. With these small words I was able to overcome all of the obstacles that I encountered in the past in order to achieve my goals.
    Sometimes those words were the only encouragement I had. I grew up in a home with four siblings, not including myself, and a unemployed single mother.  She was always hard on me, no matter what I did it was never good enough. That is another reason why I decided to go to school and do my best. I needed to do it for myself, and I knew that. I went to the high school of Art and Design. There I majored in commercial Illustration and recieved the highest award given in the illustration field at graduation.
    Being a poor Puerto Rican minority from the south Bronx is something that most people would use to put me down. However, I have learned to live with that fact and use it to my advantage. I hope to someday be a successor in the bussiness,communications, or design fields. I read about the different courses offered at Buffalo State College and was very interested.I have dedicated most of my time to school work in order to get the best grades I possibly can.
With that dedication and devotion I was able to aquire a GPA of 85.01%.
     Other then school I took part in other activties during the week.I  was part an activist group called A.C.T.I.O.N. In this program many other teens as well as myself got together and discussed different problems in the Hunts Point community, located in the south bronx, and ways we can solve them. For two years we worked with the ALA (American Lung Association) to pass a bill banning flavored tobacco in New York City. So far we had more than two hearings with the city council and two press conferences. After graduation I started workin as the director of sales for the online store of a video bogging site named ROCKETBOOM.
    I am the first of my family to graduate from high school and the first to go to college. Now, I am just a couple weeks away from my first day of classes as a college student yet I'm not as happy as I should be. I mean I am so happy about going to college, but the expenses are too much to handle. My family's income made me more than eligible for financial aid, but even with that money I still can't afford all of the expenses that come with being a college student.
    After reading this, I hope you see that I have the potential to do college level work and succeed at Buffalo State College. Attending college will be the next big step I take in order to achieve my goals of becoming successful and happy. With your greatly appreciated donations I will be able to attend college and have a chance at success.
